WELCOME!
I created this website to educate parents about a young child's neurological capacities and provide training and tools to help create the optimal environment for brain development and strengthened relationships.
I’ve never forgotten the following quote from a popular movie called Parenthood (1989), and how it perfectly describes the lack of experience required to be a parent.
It is generally perceived by society that parenting is the most difficult job in the world and has the greatest impact on a child’s life, however it is the job that most parents get little to no training in.
Why is there no training for parenthood?
~ Dr. J. Oren
Most college degrees or technical training programs require, on average, 120 hours to complete the necessary requirements to be proficient in a specific job title. Imagine the impact 120 hours of training would make for adults who begin their lifelong “job” or journey of parenthood.
Parenthood is a job that never has a day off and never takes a vacation.
Raising children is difficult, particularly young children due to their under developed brains. Parents are building brains everyday. With education, patience and nurturing, especially during the most trying moments, children will have the greatest chance for lifelong success. The environment parents provide children has a profound impact on that brain development and a child’s lifelong trajectory.
Parents are brain builders.
When we understand a child’s brain, we are better equipped to navigate the challenges. Understanding their brain means a knowledge of what executive function is.
As an early childhood professional, I am passionate about helping parents understand young children and how crucial this window of opportunity is for positive growth and development. This timeframe significantly impacts the rest of their life.
